WHO IS JESUS?

Colossians 1:17 He is before all things , and in Him all things holds together.

In my last post i talked about Lordship of Jesus Christ and we saw how Jesus was given power to be Lord. We saw just some areas where Lordship of Jesus Christ is evident in the Bible but i cant say i exploited all the areas, more studies and posts in the future will try to dig deeper into all these verses. For now am laying foundation of what to be talked of more in the future, so just ruminate on them.

Today we want to see who Jesus really is, to us, to the world and in heaven, Where Jesus started and if at all there is an end to Jesus then we will see in the Bible.

To usher in this topic, I will point out areas in the Bible that explains who Jesus really is which will in turn explain His duty on earth and in heaven as well. People have argued that Jesus was not mentioned in Old Testament, is it true? Did Jesus just appear in New testament from nowhere? Was Jesus there at creation time?

Lets see what the Bible says;

  1. Was Jesus mentioned(Present) at creation? John 1:1-15 In the beginning there was the word and the word was with God, and the word was God. He was with God in the beginning….yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. Here Jesus is refer to as “The Word” and it explains very well that Jesus was with God during creation. If we read Genesis 1:26 it says. Then God said, “let us make man in our own image, in our own likeness…..” We all can see the plural form in that verse, “US” Not “ME” meaning Jesus the word, was with God at Creation.
  2. Jesus is the beginning and the end. From what we have seen above in point No.1, we can now see Jesus was there in the beginning during creation. So John tells us hat Jesus was there during creation and the Bible says in John1:3 Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. Further to that, if we read Revelation 22:13 says that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, beginning and the end.
  3. Jesus Our redeemer. Isaiah the prophet also talked of Jesus in several chapters which explains who Jesus is and what He will come to do way before He comes. Isaiah 53 1) He took our infirmities and carried our sorrows (V4), 2)Pieced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities and by His wounds we are healed(v5).
  4. firstborn over all creation. There are many verses where we can see firstborn. For example: Ephraim son of Joseph is refered to as firstborn even though Manasseh was the firstborn(Jer. 31:9), David was appointed Lord’s firstborn even though of the children fo Jesse he was the youngest(Psalm 89:27). David and Ephrahim were firsborn in essence of preeminence but Jesus was firstborn over all creation.
  5. Jesus is the Resurrection & the Life. I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live even though he dies…(John 11:25)
  6. Jesus is Eternal King. Isaiah 9:7
  7. Jesus is the Captain of our Salvation. 1John 2:2-He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins…. Romans 6:23-For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. 1 Peter 2:24, Luke 1:69, Luke 2:11
  8. Jesus Our Mediator.  1 Timothy 2:5-For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
  9. Jesus is God’s Elect. Isaiah 42:1Here is my servant , whom i uphold, my chosen one….
  10. Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords-Romans 14:9,1 Tim. 6:15-..which God will bring about in His own time-God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
  11. Jesus is Son of God. John 1:14, Mathew 12:16
  12. Jesus the Way, the Truth and the Life. John 14:6Jesus answered, I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

There may be a lot of things which tells who Jesus is but for today these are the ones have pointed out to help us understand Him. I pray that God gives us time to explore together deeply into knowing who Jesus is.

May God bless you with understanding of His word.

Lordship of Jesus Christ

Philippians 2:9-11Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above all names……every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,…

Just a recap of what we explored yesterday. We saw why Jesus Christ and what He really came to do on earth which is to deliver mankind from sin, but remember, not all accepted His Lordship so they havent accepted the saving power of the Blood of Jesus Christ poured in Nazareth.

To all of us who havent received Jesus Christ as their Lord and saviour, please do it today there is no more time left. Jesus is coming back, sooner than you think.

Today we will explore about Lordship of Jesus Christ and how He has been enthroned by God and His name lifted above all names. See Philippians 2:9. Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above all names…..

When you read this verse, you will realize how Jesus Christ was honored by God in away of no comparison. This takes us back to what John saw in Rev. 5, let some parts in this chapter.

Revelation 5:11-13Then i looked and heard the voice of many Angels,….”Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and Wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”…”To Him who sits on the throne and to the lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, forever and ever!”

Wow!

Romans 10:9That if you confess with your mouth,”Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart…..

We can see how, if we accept Lordship of Jesus Christ and believe then your life changes-we will talk more about believing in Jesus Christ for salvation in few days to come.

Ephesians 1:22And God placed all things under His feet and appointed Him to be the head over everything for the church…

God placed ALL THINGS under His(Jesus Christ) feet. If we can’t embrace the Lordship of Jesus Christ the we don’t have anywhere to run to. This therefore means that Jesus Christ was raised in  lever that no one can pass Him with an intention of seeing God.

Only through Jesus Christ we will see God.

Acts 5:31God exalted Him to His own right hand as prince and savor that He might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.

Only through Jesus Christ we can be forgiven our sins and repentance is also through Him. Do we see how without Jesus Christ we are doomed?

I pray that God give us time to explore together this verses so that we can understand all that is in them. For now lets equip ourselves with this much.

1 Corinthians 1:3-Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

WHY JESUS CHRIST

Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,….

Today I just want to share few things in light of why Jesus Christ has been honored and gloried to cleanse us of our sins through His blood at the cross.

Lets first see the preamble of how the whole thing started.

John in the island of patmos was taken in the Spirit to see how things happens and situation are in the heavenly realm. See Revelation 1:9-17.

This brother(John) who suffered because of the word of God stood by God’s side even when it meant suffering of all kinds. Following his steadfast faith in God, I believe, prompted God to use him to pass the message of salvation that was spoken of long before by God through Isaiah the prophet in Isaiah 9-6-7.

Isaiah was told of a son that is born and will have a lot of power and might; let me just mention some of the few attributes and roles of Jesus as shown to Isaiah before we embark to what was shown to John at the island of Patmos.

  1. The government will be on His shoulders-Authority over All and in all
  2. Wonderful counselor
  3. Mighty God
  4. Everlasting Father
  5. Prince of Peace
  6. His government will be of no End-Eternal
  7. He will reign

Now we have a picture of what God shown Isaiah, we can go back to John and also see what God is showing him through the Angels. Immediately John hears that there is no one on earth or in heaven worthy to break the seals and open the scroll (referring to the power of defeating sin and bringing salvation to mankind). John Wept. Why?

John knew the suffering mankind is going through and if no one is able to deliver mankind then it must be sad, really sad. But then there was another voice from one of the elders said, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah(Jesus Christ), the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals” See Rev. 5:5

This is first indication that the elder was referring to Jesus Christ. Further in Rev. 5:6, it says, Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it has been slain, standing in the centre of the throne,….

Here we can see what will later be crucifixion of Jesus Christ-a Lamb, looking as if it has been slain,..meaning Jesus Christ will be slain and His blood will redeem us through the power He was given by the Father(God).

Then, do all these things shown to John happened?

Lets see:

Through Jesus Christ:

Romans 3:23-24-for all have sinned and fall short of glory of God, and are justified freely by His gracethrough the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

This verse explain what role Jesus Christ plays towards our redemption.

Romans 5:1-2Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,…..

Through Jesus Christ we can gain access to God and we rejoice in the hope of His glory.

Romans 6:23-We can get eternal life through Jesus Christ

John 1:12Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.

Jesus Christ creates a brige on which we can cross to see God.

Brothers and sisters, there are more scriptures elastrating more about who Jesus is to us but for today I will leave you with the above. Please ponder and meditate on them as we wait to explore more.

Revelation 22:14Blessed are those who was their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city

Blood of Jesus Christ, Speak for Us

1 Peter 3:15

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

I must, first and foremost thank Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior for giving me life to this point. If it were not For Jesus then I would be long dead and forgotten. He broke the yoke of sin and lifted all the burden off my shoulder, He cleansed me and now I can confidently and publicly speak of His saving power. For sure beyond any doubt, Jesus Christ is Lord.

We have to accept that only Jesus can save us from all our filth and sin, something which if we don’t, then our lives are in ruins, a thing that’s swallowing many of us outside there in our watch.

Please take a minute and say thanks to the most high God, the Great I AM, God of Abraham, Elijah, Moses….El Elyon(Most high), Elohim(Powerful and Mighty), Jehovah Yahweh(Divine Salvation), Jehovah-Rohi(Shepherd), El-Olam(The everlasting God), ….

Luke 19:10 For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost
